Overview of Training Services

The Independent Living Centre of WA (Inc) offers training sessions to people working in the health, community care, disability, government and private sectors. Training programmes have an emphasis on practical skills and can be customised to suit the specific needs of an individual or group.Modules can be undertaken either at the ILC premises or the client's own location.

Packages and Programs Delivered

The Training Service includes:

  • Manual Handling using the principles of manutention.
  • Manutention certifcated courses

Standard workshop programme includes:

  • Seating for Elderly Person
  • Disability Awareness
  • Pressure Management
  • Personal Care for Care Workers
  • Safe transporting in Cars/Buses/Vans
  • Strategies for dementia management
  • Training in use of equipment e.g. continence, wheelchairs, showering and hygeine equipment etc.

  • Writing care plans and policy development
  • Occupational Safety and Health
  • Duty of Care
  • Understanding Sensory Impairment
  • Using manual handling equipment safely
  • Bariatric Care (Managing the larger client)
